How do I buy Tickets?
ORDER TICKETS EARLY to get your preferred date and time for this magical trip. Tickets in the past have SOLD OUT.
Are my Tickets refundable?
Ticket purchases are NON-REFUNDABLE unless the White River Rotary Club and/or Green Mountain Railroad cancel the event. Rarely do weather conditions cause cancellations.
Are my Tickets transferrable?
Tickets are only transferrable if the original purchaser contacts us with the name of the person they are transferring to along with the email from the original purchase. The number of tickets being transferred must match the original number purchased. If you purchase an after-market ticket and your name is not on the roster for the ride you will not be allowed to board.
Will I be seated on the same train with other Friends & Family?
We will be selling tickets by train car. If you purchase tickets for the same car, we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences, but please note that there is no guarantee that parties will be seated together. Seating arrangements are subject to availability as seats are assigned prior to your train ride. PLEASE ENTER THE LAST NAME(S) THAT YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY PURCHASED THEIR TICKETS AND THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE SEATED TOGETHER IN THE SPECIAL REQUEST SPACE PROVIDED ON THE “PURCHASE TICKETS” PAGE.
Where does the train go?
The train goes to the North Pole, where the book “The Polar Express” is read. Santa boards the train there and each child receives a gift (the bell) and a yummy sugar cookie.
Will the hot chocolate be HOT?
We will make sure it is not TOO hot – our cups will have covers.
How long is the event?
Please allow about 1 1/2 hours for the whole experience (including parking, ticketing, browsing, activities; boarding, and disembarking. Approximately 45 minutes is spent on the train. There are no bathrooms on the train, so we suggest using bathrooms at the station before boarding.
What should I wear?
We would like everyone to wear his or her PJs. However, check the weather forecast and be sure you are dressed warmly and wear boots. The trains do have some heat-we suggest you dress in layers under your PJs.
May I bring my pet?
No pets please, thank you.
What’s the optimal age for enjoying the Polar Express?
From the decorations, story, music and activities to the train ride and Santa, people of all ages will enjoy the festive atmosphere. The event may just become an annual holiday tradition with family and friends!
Should I bring a stroller?
Strollers are not allowed on the train; however, you can leave strollers in the train station and pick them up on your return. “Snuggles” are our preferred carriers for small ones.
Do I need to purchase a ticket for my infant child?
Babes in laps (under the age of 1) are free and do not require a ticket purchase. If you would prefer to bring infants in a car seat carrier, please purchase a ticket, as it will take up a seat on the train. We let you decide if your “babe” will be happy and comfortable on your lap for the 45-minute ride.
My child has food allergies. What can we do about the cookie and cocoa?
For children with special dietary needs, we ask families to bring their own beverage and a cookie for the train-ride.
Can children travel without an adult?
No children under 12 years of age shall travel without an adult or older person such as an older sister or brother.
Can I pick up my ticket ahead of time?
Tickets may be picked up ONLY DURING YOUR BOARDING TIME PRIOR TO DEPARTURE at the station.
Can I still volunteer for this year’s Polar Express?

Can my company still become a sponsor for the 2024 Polar Express?
